Each god or goddess wields immense magical power. While they can freely share each other's respective magics, they all specialize in one in particular. They represent this mastery through a rune. The rune, when inscribed on a focus, allows mortals to use this kind of power, though not on the level of a god. There are rare cases, of course, where men do possess such power, but not in a very long time. Anyways, the runes and the gods they represent are as follows:
Jozu, which stands for justice, brought through the light of reason. Often used for fire magics, but can also be used to manipulate light to a degree. Justitia.
Arez, which is the rune of cycles and ending. Can be used as a timer for some magics, or for sealing magic away. Because of it's relation to death, it can often be used as an offensive magic, with mixed results. A fatality is difficult to affect on a person through this spell alone. Azrael.
Soma is the rune of growth, and healing, like the flower it is named for. Often used as a defensive magic, though it's application as a weapon can be potent given enough creativity. Morrigan.
Ramm is a rune of strength. When engraved on a suit of armor, the armor will become strengthened as if it had been forged by Vulcan himself. On a weapon it will also allow for stronger blows, and a more resilient weapon to withstand them. It burns out very quickly though. Vulcan.
Hamet is the rune of song and sound. While some hold this rune in ill regard for it's lack of true practicality, I have seen it put to great use by bards and battle mages alike. Play your opponent a lullaby or use sound to conjure a blast of wind, your choice really. Milfenito.
Mezit is the rune of foresight and awareness. Depending on what it is placed on, the effects will vary. Place them on the lenses of a pair of glasses and you'll have compact binoculars. Put it under a crystal ball and create a scrying glass. This rune has many uses but requires years of study to truly understand. Antevorta.
Last is Melo, for patience, and stillness. It cools the air and often the tempers around the user, though results may vary based on the caster and the will of the one being casted on. Inscribe it on leather bags for pouches that keep food from spoiling as quickly.
Shirahime.
