How many rejections do you have to wait before realizing that your book is of no interest to anyone? Or, at least, to any publisher? There is no precise number. Or perhaps that number is that of potential publishing houses interested in our manuscript: when they run out, when there are no longer publishers who could publish our book, it's time to let it go. I still have a few strings to my bow. Few, to be honest - two, three at most - but they are still there. First try It was December 21, 2021, ten months ago, when I started submitting my political essay to a publishing house . I contacted her on Instagram, and they responded immediately giving me an email to send the manuscript to.
Which I did, only to be told, after a few Phone Number List hours, that they were full until autumn. Couldn't they have told me on Instagram? Doesn't the right hand know what the left hand is doing? Editorial mysteries. Second attempt I try with a second publishing house , which on its website promises a response to everyone within 60 working days (i.e. 3 calendar months). After 70 working days - outside the maximum time, therefore - I feel entitled to request information by email. They reply that unfortunately they are full for the next few months and cannot accept any more manuscripts. Third attempt I then proposed my manuscript to a third publishing house .
The site doesn't promise anything, but after a month and a half they phone me, apologizing for making me wait so long... From one excess to another. But unfortunately they are not interested in my essay. Fourth attempt An idea comes to me: it's summer now, early July, so I ask the first publishing house I sent the manuscript to when it would be possible to send it. Maybe in September? Even now, they answer me quickly, so they will try to evaluate it in the months of July and August. Good, I say to myself, and I send the manuscript. Less than 24 hours later they write to me that they are not interested. Am I the only one who notices the inconsistency? From “maybe we will evaluate it by August” to a flash evaluation? Editorial mysteries. Fifth attempt I didn't give up and at the beginning of July I sent the manuscript to a fourth publishing house . Fifth shipment, basically. What will happen? I have no idea.
