Ezra gently picked up the baby boy and began to wipe at the the little trail of drool hanging from his mouth. Edos had already fallen asleep. "Ohhh, he's so tired." He rocked him back and forth and walked up to a window. "Twin little babies. Wow."

Ever huggled her baby close, falling asleep slowly. "My family...I love you..."

He sat back down by Evie and cradled the baby. "And we love you too."
The woman drew up behind the warrior, unseen. The cloak only had a few more minutes of life in it. She needed to make her move now. She moved swiftly, albeit silently, and pulled a blade from her belt, taking care to keep it hidden beneath the folds of her cloak. She waited, and as the warrior rounded a corner, she pushed the blade into her back with all the weight of her body behind it.

Evie giggled, and fell asleep.

Justitia just stopped and stood for a moment. As the girl pulled away, the Goddess reached behind her and pulled the knife from her back. She studied it for a moment before tossing it aside like nothing had happened. Immediately after, she whirled around and grabbed the girl by the neck, lifting her and slamming her into a nearby wall. "I was hoping you wouldn't do anything stupid, but I was wrong."

The girl spluttered uselessly, her face turning red. The cloak's magical energy died out, and it turned back to it's drab grey, it's magical potential exhausted.

"The council has really screwed up," Justitia sneered, drawing the blade that hung from her waist. Immediately, her aura ignited, and the dull armor began to shine brilliantly as her wings stretched out from behind her back. "They threaten Alaric, even with the death of King Adminius. Despicable. No matter. I Imagine it won't be long before he gets here." She threw the girl down the alley into a pile of debris. A loud crack could be heard as the girl's spine snapped from the force of the impact. Justitia glared down at her, her aura shining brightly. "With my artifact in hand once more, you shall be the first to find judgment." She turned as the wood around the girl ignited and soon moved to her, setting her ablaze. Justitia said nothing as the girl screamed, merely sheathinh Caladbolg and adopting her disguise once more.

Barely a day passed before Alexander, Charlotte, and his guards returned to Libertatem. Without another moment wasted, he reported to the council themselves, leaving Alaric in the "protection" of Sara and the remaining guards.
He waited patiently, standing at attention, at the entrance the council chambers, uneasily awaiting his audience with them.

The doors slid open, and the bailiff showed Alexander into the room. The doors slid shut behind him when he left, leaving Alexander alone in the room with them. The council members set their paperwork aside and looked down at him from their high seats. "Well met, Alexander. What news do you bring us?" The shrewd old woman asked.

"Yes ma'am." He swallowed hard. It was terrible standing before them. "Alaric Tepes has returned with me. However..." He hesitated for a moment, "....I don't understand why it was necessary to return him. They seemed like they had his best interests in mind."

"In what state did you recover the boy?" Gorman asked. He removed his pince nez and tucked them into the small pouch around his neck, then turned his gaze back to Alexander.

"Battered and beaten. When he's awake, he's constantly uneasy and when he's aslepp...." He held of on commenting on the mumblings he had heard. Instead, he just shook his head. "They didnt do this to him though. They couldn't have. Could they?" There was the slightest hint of doubt in his voice.

"I'm afraid they could, and have, as evidenced by the wounds on our mutual friend. And believe me, I'd love to maintain our faith in Arviragus. But the fact remains that after our Chosen went missing for months, the first people we see him with are the Chosen living in Arviragus' company, beaten, and half mad with pain."

"Then what are we to do? Certainly nothing as extreme as war I've heard rumors of. Alaric has been returned to Libertatem. Isn't that enough?"

"If it were not an attack on one of our highest officers? Perhaps. If they had had the dignity not to torture him, doubtless for secrets of state? It could have been so." Gorman tented his fingers and looked down his nose at Alexander. "But this is not merely an assault on Libertatem. They have turned several of the Chosen, the Gods own warriors, against one of their own. And this can not be forgiven."
