"In the time I've known you, you've made a lot of rash, stupid, and altogether reckless decisions, but this..." She paused, lightening her tone. "This is something else. Whatever you came planning to do to alaric is more horrifying than anything Seth has done this far." She turned her back to him. "You were willing to let Aeronwen kill Alaric, without even being sure if it would stop Seth. He's saved our lives- YOUR life on multiple occasions, and to turn your back on him when he needs friends more than anything else." She shook her head. "I didn't believe you would ever be capable of something like this. I guess I was wrong."

[LuciasFalkner]

"I wasn't going to kill him! Not... Intentionally. I..." He shook his head repeatedly. What had happened? Where had he gone wrong? Alaric was going to be fine. He would never let anything happen to him. But they had to get Seth into the open. How were they supposed to do that? And then Charlotte started threatening to kill his mother, and Evie lashed out against her... All of the conflicting emotions in his head paralyzed him. He didn't know what was happening anymore, what he was doing.

She let out a sigh. "Adminius, before I met all of you, I was hardly worth being called 'chosen', let alone Antevorta's chosen. My abilities were flawed, virtually useless and I was barely scraping by in fights without," she paused, looking for a word, "help." She finished with disdain. "I've pushed aside any past antipathy for you, your mother, even the gods in order to better myself for the rest of you. In the last four months, I've seen a great many things to come; things that would destroy a lesser person, and I can promise you this, we will stop Seth and save Alaric." She walked over to Adminius, setting a hand on his arm. "Now please, go home. Your wife and daughter need you there more than here."

[Nobody]

Alaric relented. "As you wish, then. I relent. Any food that you have will do. I am not a picky man."

[Tetra]

Evie offered him a grape. "They're yummy." She gave a smile.

[Nobody]

He took it, and some of the other food she had offered him. "Thank you, Evie."

[LuciasFalkner]

Adminius took a step back, shock spreading across his face. "My wife and... My... My daughter...?"

[Tetra]

Evie smiled and ate some too, mind wandering. She thought on the fact that she had blown her whistle and that everyone in their group should had heard. She popped a grape in her mouth, silently noting they should hurry back, people would be worrying.

She nodded. "Now will you go home?"

He said nothing for a few moments before finally nodding. "... Just... Be careful. You know full well that in an instant he could no longer be Alaric. It's not like you to be so careless in these situations." He turned and left with his mother staying behind a moment, glaring in direction of the inn, before following him.

Charlotte let out a breath she had been holding as they walked away. She stood in the empty street for a moment, lost in her own mind. "I'm not being careless. I've got this perfectly. Under. Control." She knew she was lying to herself. Empty promises, lies, all of it. She wasn't sure of anything. Charlotte pressed her hand to her chest, feeling her heart beating at an unbelievable rate. She walked back into the inn, pausing at the door and taking a deep breathe to calm her nerves. "Here goes something." She walked back into the room, looking at the pair eating. It seemed almost normal. Almost.

[Tetra]

Evie seemed lost in her thoughts a moment before popping her head up. "Welcome back Charlotte!"

[Nobody]

Alaric finished the food Evie had given him, forcing it down despite his lack of hunger. "Is Adminius gone, then?"

[sunter]

Charlotte scratched the back of her head. "Hey Evie." She turned to Alaric. "Yeah, he's going home now."

[Nobody]

Alaric shook his head. "They only wanted to help. I am an unwelcome burden, and I am sorry." He looked up at the two of them. "Where do we go from here?"
