Ever fiber of her being told her to escape away from the hug, but charlotte endured. After a couple seconds, she finally pulled away from Evie. "Thanks, I may have needed that. Look, we need to get some sleep. Intrusive inn keeper or not, we've still got a ways ahead of us."

Evie nodded "I agree!"She flopped on the bed. "Goodnight Charlotte!"She pulled the covers over her and turned away from Charlotte, as to not show her that she actually was a little scared.

Charlotte sat back against the headboard offer bed, flipping through the little black book. She hazarded a glance at Evie, who she could tell wasn't wuite asleep. "Are you sure about this Evie? Being here? It's not to late to return to the castle."

Evie looked back at Charlotte, smiling."of course I'm fine. Why wouldnt I be?" She hugged the blankets. "Although I have to admit...I haven't slept alone I'm a long while."

"I may not be as close to you as ezra, but you're certainly not alone. Now you sleep. We'll be there and back in no time." She looked back down at the book, flipping through the pages before shutting it and staring at the cover.

Evie nodded, though that wasn't what she meant. She laid down, wrapping herself in blankets to best simulate a hug, and closed her eyes.

Charlotte jumped, tossing the book to the edge of the bed. She looked around for the voice, but saw nothing. "I must be tired. Now I'm hearing things."

A single blazing eye opened up on the front cover of the tossed aside book. It swiveled toward Charlotte.
"Hey, moron! Didn't anyone ever teach you to take care of books?"

Evie got up, blanket wrapped around her still. "This one does...should we burn it?"

"No! Books are for reading, not burning!" It shuddered and flopped itself around until it was standing up, staring straight at her with it's off center eye, tilted at an odd angle. A small mouth opened with a wet tearing sound near the bottom of the cover.

Charlotte jumped more at Evie's shriek than the book itself. "Calm down Evie." She said, holding up her hands. She wasn't sure how convincing she sounded, seeing as her heart was racing and she kept glancing back at the now covered book. "Would you mind telling me what exactly you are?"
