I have heard this phrase pronounced in many ways, one worse than the other, especially from politicians and journalists, people with degrees who should know Italian better than others. The phrase should be used as I wrote it, or in the more simplified form "as things stand", but certainly not in other ways. The phrase comes from the Latin: rebus sic stantibus , used in the legal world, which means "this being the case", therefore indicating situation and similar.
In our country it is instead mutilated into: the current state At the state The question I ask myself, every time I hear it pronounced in these ways, is: "at present" what? What does "at present" mean? At Special Data present we cannot please everyone. Does such a sentence make sense? Absolutely not.But what is a story if it doesn't have a reader?
