There was a loud crash, and the flames moved from one side of the shop to join their brothers on the other. Adminius emerged from the incinerated shop, Caladbolg billowing with great flames. Despite the impressive entrance, he was visibly exhausted and likely would not stay so impressive for very long.
"So you're the bastard that would see Aoife killed," he snarled, an almost literal fire in his eyes.

''Well, you certainly seem a fair bit more offended by it than she does.'' Cultus pointed out to adminius, and then he stabbed forqard with his sword, catching something on him, but unsure if it was flesh or only cloth. ''Your pun wasnt appreciated by the way.'' He informed the man.

Alaric glanced back and forth between the nebula of magic forming in his hands and the mad mage. His eyes widened. The man was almost glowing with magic. "Adminius! Cultus! Get clear!" His hand shook with the effort it took to hold the spell he had prepared in place. He had never been trained for this though; in fact, he wasn't sure a five rune spell was even possible, using his body as a focus. But this man seemed untouchable. -Gods, did Cultus's blade just bounce off the man?-
The rune in the man's eye was blurring in and out of existence so fast now that it's shape was impossible to discern, a shadow on the milky surface of his eye.

Cultus leapt forward, not aiming for the man, but for Adminius, who was in the way of Alarics spell, tackling him. He winced as they hit the thorns of tge briars around them, cultus arm torn up from the thorns, blood welled up and ran down his arm, making his grip on his sword slick.

Adminius shoved Cultus off of him and leapt to his feet. He shook his head to recover himself before reigniting the flames around Caladbolg. He didn't bother waiting for Alaric to unleash his spell to attack the assassin. He raised his sword and charged, flames trailing behind him along the ground. He swung st the man with the blade, hoping that the power of the great sword would at least break it.

The assassin ducked past Adminius's blade, closing the distance between them with inhuman speed. He swung a knee up with great force, straight into the young knight's gut. He swung Adminius in a full circle before letting him fly into Cultus.
Alaric struggled to contain the spell. His whole arm was shaking at this point. -It is like trying to rein in a hurricane,- he thought, oddly calm. He looked back up to the fight only to find the man missing. Alaric swung his arm around, gut sinking as he realized he was too late. The man grabbed his arm at the wrist and shoulder, directing it skyward. Alaric winced. The man was squeezing down exactly on the rune points even through Alaric's armor, making it impossible to hold the spell. Alaric released it into the air where it couldn't harm the village.
The ball shot into the air like a cannon ball, a torrent of air spiraling in behind. It flew up into the clouds where it erupted. A coruscating explosion of yellow and white lit the area, scattering the clouds. The shockwave shook the trees for a moment, and dispelled the magic sustaining the briar patches.
Alaric collapsed unconscious. His armor faded into black smoke and the man rolled him onto his stomach. He lifted Alaric's shirt and prodded at his back, in it's center. He mumbled to himself as he did, saying "yes, YES good. Exactly where it should be but only when you know where to look." He placed his palm over the spot he'd been prodding. There was a flash of red, and Alaric's body jumped as if electrified. The man stood and let out a sigh of contentment.

Searing hot pain ran right down the assassin's back, only emphasized by the incredible heat the followed it.Adminius had wasted no time whatsoever in recovering, and Caladbolg's blade definitely proved to do what it should. He glared into the back of the assassin's head for a moment before moving to shove the blade into the assassin's spine.

The blade bounced twice, skidding off his back, still cutting skin and cloth but unable to pierce the flesh. Underneath his skin, his muscles were a polished black. He stood, grinning like a mad man, and backhanded Adminius. Adminius fell into the now dirty fountain. Steam rose from him in a cloud. "You're still too weak to kill me. You weren't strong enough last time and if anything you're weaker this time." His dead eye flickered about, looking for Aoife. "Bitch isn't here. I'll kill her later." He left the village in the direction of the mountains, hunched over and considerably more deranged than he had been at the start of the fight.

Adminius struggled to his feet, the use of magic hitting him almost as hard as the hand that likely cracked his cheekbone. He stared after the man and memorized the direction in which he headed before going over to Alaric. He started to pick his associate up, but he inevitably collapsed as well.
Aoife ran out of the inn, having witnessed the last but of the fight. After confirming that they were all alive, she pleaded with some passerby to help her move them all to the nearest healer.

Cultus stood, unsteady on his feet. He looked around, taking in the apothecary turned trash heap. What was left of the ceiling was supported by monstrous briars in the absence of most the walls, glass littered the floor, and blood was splattered all over the place. The one corner that seemed to be relatively untouched was where the prisoner had been set, and he was still laying unconscious like nothing had happened. Cultus frowned. He would have hoped the prisoner would die from a stray spell at least. ''Why'd we even have to drag 'im here in the first place?'' He wondered to himself as he fished out a steel flask. He caught the eye of the princess as she picked through the rubble. ''Oh yeah, thats why...'' he took a drink, felt the pain in his arm begin to numb, took another drink, and then moved to help. He hefted Alaric over his shoulders. ''Where we headed?'' He asked.

She yelped when he spoke, having thought that he'd been unconscious. With a shake of the head, she looked over at the unconscious Adminius. "I'd prefer it if we would take them to a healer, but..." After what had just happened, she couldn't help but fear the inevitable outcome if they were to risk it again. "Let's... Let's get out of town. We should move on to another city before we attract any more unnecessary attention. And we can't exactly use the 'I'm royalty.' bit..."

He readjusted Alaric's weigh on his shoulder. ''You go get the horses. I'll move these two and get supplies for a trip. At this point, i would suggest getting out of the country itself, unless you happeb to know of somewhere else to take refuge?''

"Well, Arviragus, like Libertatem, is a city-state. However... Libertatem is our best bet. They have always been close by when peace-talks and such were underway. I am sure that we'd be taken in and protected, at least for a while."
