Evie handed him some bread, and dehydrated meat. "This is what I've got. I have a carrot too, but that's for horseah." She looked to Charlotte. "Are you hungry?"

"Huh? Uh no. I'm fine. I'll have something later." She waved a dismissive hand over her shoulder.

Charlotte thought about it for a moment. "I think we uh," she paused, suddenly dizzy. "We need to figure out-" Her voice trailed off. Her breathing became constant as her head slumped forward. It was difficult to tell with her back to the rest of them, but her sleepless days and nights had finally caught up with her.

Evie blinked a few times then smiled sweetly, pulling a blanket off of her horse and draping it on Charlotte. "Goodnight sleepyhead."

Ezra stretched out on top of his own blanket and closed his eyes. "Charlotte has the right idea. We need to get some shut eye, and worry about darker stuff later. We're all exhausted."

Charlotte jolted back to reality, struggling to remember how she came to be in the temple again. It was like half of her life had been a dream. She stood up quetly, examining her surroundings And expecting to see Michael and Elias accross from her watching the fire, but that was impossible thinking. The fire pit was long dead and instead, there was the group and their two horses, huddled around Ezra for warmth. She turned her attention to the room they were in. "Back again I suppose." Her mind drifted to the last time she had been in this place. --- -Years Before- Charlotte wrapped herself tighter twith the blanket. She had a habit of waking up earlier than Michael and Elias, which was never a bad thing. It gave her some peace and quiet from their boundless energy. She threw some wood on the fire to keep it from going out before she turned to the walls. They had been in this temple for days now and still nothing to show for it. Michael even tried blowing up the stone door. Not even a scratch. He had theorized that this was the entrance to some underground catacomb. The walls, he had said, were etched with the heroics, wars and feats from ages long past, which was to be expected. Charlotte stop in front of the door and stared at the symbol on it. She raised her hand and reached up to touch the symbol. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Not yet at least." Charlotte whirled around and saw a woman. She almost screamed but the woman held up her hands. "Sorry sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. Just visiting." She dat down in front of the fire where charlotte had been asleep not long before, patting he ground next to her. "Come sit. We have much to discuss." --- Charlotte snapped out of the memory, finding herself standing in front of the door, an Echo of herself from years before. She reached towards the rune, half expecting to be interrupted by the woman again. She touched the door and a jolt went down her arm. Her other hand bolted into her pocket, pulling out the burnt coin she used on Antioch. "It's resonating." She mumbled. Charlotte pressed the coin to the door. Power flowed from the coin into it, giving it a dark purple glow. Then, all at once, it vanished, leaving a stairway into complete darkness. Without a second thought, Charlotte began her descent, ignoring that the door closed behind her, leaving no trace that it had been opened.

Morning came around, and Ezra woke to the kiss of sunlight on his skin. His eyes shot open and he whooped with joy, ignorant of the drool stains on both of his sleeves. He soaked in the light with relish, feeling the cold vanish from his lips. He looked back into the temple and saw the door, seal vanished. He looked again. No Charlotte.

Evie woke a little after Ezra, stretching and standing. "Oh good morning." She looked around. "Oh where's Charlotte?"

Adminius had already been up, apparently, Caladbolg laid against the wall in its sheath.

Charlotte made her descent slowly. The darkness seemed to go on forever. For the first time in a while, she was completely blind, thoigh it didn't stop her. "It's freezing down here. Should've stayed upstairs." She reached the bottom of the stairs and gasped when a cold breeze hit her. The gasp echoed one way, giving her a good idea of where she was heading. Unfortunately, it also gave her time to think. --- Years ago.... again Charlotte sat down next to the woman without hesitation. Probably not the best choice, but she had grown pretty good at sensing malicious intent. This woman felt warm and welcoming. Nobody had given her a feeling like that since her mother was alive. The woman reached up a hand a brushed her long hair brown hair out of her face. Charlotte instinctively did the same. "You never cease to amaze me." She began. "these two gentleman wouldn't be here without you, you know that, right?" Charlotte remained silent. "We'll come on, you have a voice. Speak up." "No. I don't think that's right." Charlotte began, quietly. "I'm just along for the ride. They'd be here with or without me." "Nonsense. They were much like you when you found each other. Close to giving up, but they didn't. Because of you." She put an arm around Charlotte and pulled her closer. "Hope is what you gave each other, and now here you are. Not without the three of you would this have been possible. Nobody has come this close, and nobody will ever again." Charlotte wanted to ask what the woman meant, but her face grew solemn. "Beginnings and ends are absolute Charlotte. No matter what you do, there's no changing that." Charlotte stared at the fire entranced. Her words imprinting themself into her mind. "But what does that mean?" She asked, breaking her silence. "You'll know in due time." The woman stared down at the girl. She brushed some of her hair off her face. "You should let your hair grow out. I'm sure it would be far more flattering." She stood up and walked to the door before turning around again. "You are a guardian. Protect them with all your might and one day, the favor will be returned." Charlotte couldn't believe her eyes as the woman dissipated without a trace. "Protect who?" --- The end of her path finally illuminated itself. With one final step, Charlotte walked into a large round room. The walls glowed with images far more detailed than what had been upstairs and at the center of it, a simple black book sat on a pedestal, waiting to be retrieved.

Adminius stepped into the temple, shivering violently from the cold. "Well... Charlotte isn't anywhere out there..," He went over to Caladbolg and ignited it, immediately warming up.

Ezra strode over to Adminius. "Practice time already? Only thing you still suck at is redirection. So I don't think you'll ever juggle as well as me." He smacked Adminius on the back playfully.

"I'll leave that up to you," Adminius rebutted, "seeing as in a more straightforward fighter anyway." He stood and shook, letting the warmth flow over him. He popped his neck and smiled. "Let's get started then."
