He shook himself a few times. "Sorry, Evie's outfit was distracting. What, like, wounds? Nah. I'm invincible. Undies of steel." He indicated the mail lining his shirt.

"Yes. Her outfit." Charlotte mumbled. She turned to Evie upon her return. "Okay is relative. This one might have some brain damage. Aside from that, it seems Adminius is okay too."

"Um...I guess so. I like clothes like these because it's easy to move."She smiled kindly. "Do they offend?"

He averted his eyes. "Nnno, but they're a little distracting. I get the practical application, I'm just sayin'."

Evie frowned. "...oh I'm sorry." She shrugged. "We should probably keep going towards our destination. You can ride on my horse with me if you like."

He eyed Horseah. "I appreciate it, but it doesn't seem fair to make everyone else walk while I ride. I'll keep you company though."

Evie frowned, her feeble attempt at flirting shot down. "Oh okay" she shook her frown off. "I suppose that's fair." She hopped on her horse.

Charlotte rolled her eyes under her mask. "Get on the horse Ezra. You're just going to waste energy walking." She turned towards Adminius. "Besides, adminius is the one that's walking. He probably wouldn't have it any other way."

He grumbled something incoherently and hopped onto the back of the gigantic horse. "Well, Evie, lead the way."

Evie looked back at him out of the corner of her eyes. "Oh a change of heart?"She smiled. "Glad you came around." She patted her horses neck and he began to walk. "Wake up mr. Knight! We need to keep going. We may be able to find your horse"

Adminius looked at the others and groaned. They'd mounted their horses. "Aw hell... Let's just get going then..."

The lands of Setsugen had already proved unforgiving to the group. The brisk winds and eternal snow had the group chilled to the bone. There was a brief, roaring wind as the snow around them seemed to begin to thicken slowly. It wasn't long before the snow was pounding down in a full on blizzard. Visibility dropped to near zero, and as Charlotte, Evie and Ezra watched ahead, it became apparent that Adminius had somehow ventured far enough ahead that he could almost not be seen at all.
Adminius raised an arm to protect his face from the blizzard as best as he could. It felt almost like his skin itself was slowly freezing, and as it began to grow numb, he began thinking back to Aoife and Alaric back home. The journey to Setsugen had taken significantly longer than they had initially predicted with the loss of their horses. The lands between Libertatem and Setsugen were sparcely populated as people preferred to stay close to the two city states. He assumed that the two had no doubt accomplished a lot by now, and it bugged him that he wasn't there to see it. That he wasn't by Aoife's side at the head of it.
He shook his head. Why was he thinking like that? He was just a knight. Sure they were childhood friends, and sure he wished they could be more, but such a thought was stupid. There was no way he could be... King.
Ezra's voice called him back to reality. He blinked and looked up to see that he'd fallen far enough behind that they'd lost sight of each other. He stopped for a few moments and waited for the others to fall back. As time passed, he came to realize, even through the roaring winds, that Ezra's voice was getting quieter. He picked the direction that Ezra's voice seemed to be coming from and started in it, but even still, it only got softer and softer until it was gone altogether.
Panic began to rise in Adminius' chest. There had to be a way to fix this situation. If he didn't find his way back, his chances of survival dipped into the single digits, and he wasn't about to let that happen. The first thought that came to mind was staying as warm as possible, and due to his panic, the only thing that came to mind was Caladbolg. He drew the sword from its sheath and ignited not only the blade but the wings as well. He felt mild but instant relief, and with that, he picked a random direction and took off running, hoping that the flames would serve as a sort of beacon for the others to find.
He ran, and he ran, and he ran, but nothing changed. Ezra's voice never sounded, there were no signs of other people in the vicinity. He was lost, quite possibly for good. He slowed to a walk and almost dropped to his knees in defeat. However, his determination kept him standing, and he unconsciously pushed forward as his numbed mind struggled to register all that had happened.
Adminius walked for nearly an hour before the snow began to thin. He was utterly exhausted by this point, but the pain had long since gone. Keeping just warm enough to prevent permanent damage, he managed to wander into a deep valley with ruins scattered all throughout. The snow here was a very gentle drift that allowed the flames to quickly heat Adminius back up. With this new development, he managed to recover enough of his senses to make a quick survey of the area. He searched for a structure that might provide just enough cover from the snow that if the storm came through, he'd be mostly safe. He wandered about for a short while before finally settling on what appeared some kind of ruined shrine, also the most intact structure in the valley. He wandered inside and looked around. As expected, anything of significance seemed to be destroyed or taken by time. He wandered into the main room, where there seemed to be the most cover. At the back were the remains of an old, wooden statue. He wandered over to it and bent down when he noticed a distinct sparkle amidst the snow drift at the base. He moved the snow aside to reveal a plaque.
"--rora, -----ss of ----" it read. Or, somewhat read.
He stood back up and found a shady corner, letting Caladbolg's flames die before settling into it. He took one last exhausted glance around the structure before closing his eyes.
***
The next two days were the same. Each time he woke up, he'd venture out into the valley to look for any signs that someone might have come and gone or even come and never gone. Sometimes there was snow, sometimes there wasn't. Adminius found this rather peculiar, as with a single glance to the edges of the valley showed that the storm continued to rage all around it.
Ultimately, Adminius found nothing, though on the second day, he came across a home that was surprisingly intact. It was merely a small shack, no doubt belonging to a poorer citizen. He approached it and examined the outer wall. Just outside the front door was another plaque, this one more readable than the previous. It was written twice, once in Common, the other in another language, one that he assumed was lost with the civilization.
"K---umi home. Fa--l- Me---rs:
----- -------- Yuki."
Adminius found it strange that both of the first names were completely unreadable while the last was perfectly readable. He spent little time thinking on this, however, as the sun had begun to dip beyond the horizon, considering that the sky had begun to grow darker. With that, he hurried back to the place that he'd found shelter in.
***
Adminius was jolted awake by a crunch in the snow just outside the walls of the structure. He jerked awake and jumped to his feet, hand ready to draw Caladbolg at any moment. He slowly sidestepped, making sure to make as little noise as possible so that he could hear each little crunch. He exited the shrine and back away in the direction opposite what the footsteps seemed to be headed. It didn't mean much, though, as whatever it was seemed to be circling around the structure. He continued to back up, each step making very little noise. He slowly drew Caladbolg and ignited it to act as a torch.
Adminius almost stopped dead in his tracks when a silhouette stepped around the corner of the house. When it caught sight of him, it stopped and seemed to watch him for a moment, before walking towards him at a much faster pace. He packed up rather abruptly and lost his footing. He dropped Caladbolg and the flames died out. He hurriedly grabbed it and reignited it. He held it up, just as the figure reached him.
He blinked when the face that greeted him was that of a girl that couldn't be any older than him. She had light blue hair with darker blue highlights intermixed, and a white kimono wrapped around her rather snugly, decorated with sky blue snow flake patters. Her eyes were a bright yellow, though they felt kind, protective. She extended a hand smiled, opening her mouth to speak.
"I've finally found you," the woman said, "Adminius, Chosen of Justitia."
