"Since we met back in the city, but this isn't the time for that, okay? Make sure he doesn't kill Adminius. I'll be right behind you." She turned her attention back to the task at hand and continued to fumbling around in her pockets.

"I trust you to direct us efficiently." He ran out into the courtyard of the castle. "Adminius! Are you alright?"
The assassin threw down a wall of air, sending the fire up into the night sky. Fire magic is separated from the other kinds of magic in that it can't just be stopped. Fire is physical enough to blow things apart, but ethereal enough that it would wash over a person, cooking them alive. As such, fire magic often requires redirection of the opponents own magic. So it was no surprise to Alaric when the huge fireball arced back down towards them.

Adminius just charged down the mountainside, moving away from the fireball's landing area. Clearly, he had to close enough for his magic to have a chance at hitting, but not too close so that the assassin could beat him into the ground. He stopped about ten feet from the assassin and swung Caladbolg, though not with fire. He put all of the will he could muster into another vertical wave of light, hoping that it would catch the assassin off guard and actually do something.

The light frayed and broke apart, scattering like shattered glass. The assassin shoved his hands into the snow. Spires of ice shot up out of the ground. "Look at all that wasted energy!" They raced up the mountain but stopped just short of Adminius.
Alaric's face was twisted in concentration. He braced his left arm with his right and twisted his whole body to the left. The pillars cracked and shattered, turning back into snow. Alaric swept his arm up and wind kicked up a screen of snow. "I won't let him kill here!"

Adminius took advantage of the snow cover and let the blaze of his wings and sword die in order to give him that extra cover. He trained his eyes on where the assassin had been and kept them there, silently stepping through the snow in order to hopefully get the jump on the assassin. Once he felt he was behind the assassin, he charged and brought down a light-charged blade, looking to strike him in the back.

The assassin fell back out of the cloud of snow. -This is getting ridiculous. Kill the hothead.- He nodded.
"Alright firefly." He lifted himself to his feet. " I think it's time to squish you." The skin along his fingers ripped open, and black blood poured over his hands, sharpening into smoking claws.

That made Adminius back up a bit. Sure he'd never seen much magic before, but that was not something he'd ever expected to see. Magic had its base in the domains of the Gods, he knew that much, and running through them in his head, he couldn't imagine where the hell that had come from. He knew that he didn't stand much of a chance before, but this was beyond anything he could have imagined. Underestimation was a bitch. He took a new, defensive stance and stepped backwards slowly.

Alaric swept in from the rear, sword extended point first. "Die, damn you!"
The assassin spun trying to catch Inritus with the claws edge. The sword bit into them, but didn't cut all the way through. -I'll have to start the process sooner than I'd like, and I'd rather he went looking for it, but i have no choice. Your body is breaking down.-
The assassin pushed the blade down and slammed an open palm into Alaric's chest. Black light flashed from Alaric's back and his eyes rolled up into his head. He passed out. The assassin turned to face Adminius again. "JUST you, and me now."

Adminius was panting now, the exhaustion from the use of magic starting hit him harder. He fought back the rising panic of the worsening situation and took a deep breath. He had to calculate his every move from this point onward. He had to use magic only in a moment of necessity to make sure that he didn't pass out from exhaustion, making this next showdown even harder than before. No more taking the offensive. He had to guard and strike only when he could. Caladbolg wasn't long enough to give him a reach advantage, and with the exhaustion setting in, hope was fleeting fast. With nothing left to do, he set back into the most defensive stance he could muster and waited for the assassin to strike.

Charlotte finally pulled something out of her pocket. A palm sized coin with Jozu, Arez, Melo, and Ramm. "FINALLY!" She caught sight of Alaric crumpled in the ground, then the claws. Which took her by surprise. "You! What game are you playing?! Where did you learn to do that?" She flipped the coin in her hand. "Adminius, do not let him get you with those."

The assassin rushed Adminius. He slashed with his claws, missing though it was close. He cut again, bringing the margin closer and closer, cutting through the leather armor on Adminius's chest.

He leapt back before the claws cut through to his skin, shaking his head to refocus himself. The exhaustion was getting worse and was now affecting his focus. That was his strongest defensive stance and he wasn't able to even register what had been happening until it was too late. This was bad. Very bad. He took another deep breath and reassumed his position.

Charlotte cursed under her breathe. Adminius was clearly wearing down and she needed to do something. She raced over and grabbed Adminus' hand, pressing the coin into it. "Don't move and don't speak until I give you the signal!" She threw up a cloak and sent magic through it. Immediately, Adminius disappeared, leaving just her and the assassin visible. "Well, you and me now." She drew her daggers, both of which were glowing with a white light.

"Nice trick." He cut toward her experimentally. He didn't know what those blades could do but the glow indicated magic.

Rather than attempt a parry, she moved ever slightly away from the claws. "You're going to have to do better than that. I'm smarter and faster than them." She held up her daggers again. "Where did you learn to use that magic?"
