"There's not a lot you can do about it now, though. You've had an interesting life, for sure. But that's also no excuse to try and ignore who and what you are. Power does come with responsibility. Have you ever heard of the concept, noblesse oblige?"

"Noblesse oblige." She repeated. Images began to appear again.
Charlotte was sitting on a bench next to the man with the mask. "You're going to do great things Charlotte. You need to use that power to help people. do you understand?" The little girl on the bench nodded. "Good. No matter how big or small they are, everybody may need a little guidance. When you're big and strong, that is your obligation."
She could feel tears welling up in her eyes. "Yeah, I guess I've heard it before."

"Then you probably know why I'm here right now." Azrael stood and put his hands in his pockets. He looked down at her with a smile.
"Yeah, you're a smart kid. You always have been."
He patted her head and offered her a hand up. "I've got one more place to stop by. Just hold on a little longer, okay?"

She took his hand and pulled herself to her feet. "Yeah." She nodded. "I guess I just needed you to remind me." The familiar feel of his hand made her heart warm a little. She too off her mask a rubbed the tears from her eyes. In a flash, he was gone. "Maybe it's time to remember a lot of promises I made." One last image began to take form.
Charlotte was holding hands with a big guy with a black beard and a boy her age with messy black hair. "Are we getting closer Michael?" She asked. The man let out a hearty laugh. "We're almost there!" "Yeah!" She vividly remembered Elias' boundless energy. "We're gonna make the discovery of a lifetime Charlotte!"
The image faded away, but the feeling remained. "Yeah Elias. Yeah we will."

Azrael sat in front of Adminius, a grin on his face. "How's it going? What's the afterlife like so far?"

Adminius just stared at Azrael for a moment at first, looking directly into the God's eyes as if searching for something. "... Miserable, as I'm sure you might expect. It doesn't help that I'm sitting here, unable to do anything as that bastard no doubt plans his next-... Oh right. Time is... Frozen or whatever..." He put a hand over his eyes and took a long sniff

"...ah hell, are you crying man?" Azrael shuffled in place and rubbed at his neck habitually. Justitia would have his ass if she heard about this. "Look, man. It's not like everything is set in stone yet, you know? I'm here to see how you lived."

He rubbed his eyes and shook his head. "... What is there to say?" He sighed, clearly at a loss.

"Well, what happened during your life? Why did you do what you did?"

He thought for a moment. "... Well... I guess I should begin at the beginning." The first image appeared. It was two people, a man and a woman. The man was scarred, though he had a kind look in his eyes. He wore heavy armor and had a claymore on his back. The woman wore similar armor, though lighter. She had long, light brown hair and wore a smile that would have lit up an entire room. "My parents were the dual captains of the Royal Guard during the war. They were the images of heroism, always jumping to the front line to make sure that no one got near the King and Queen." The image shifted to show the two Knights surrounded by cloaked men. "Unfortunately, Arviragus is also the only country to have no native mages. So when pit up against an entire unit of them..." Flames swept through the image, washing it away. "You get the idea." Aoife appeared next, though significantly younger. She seemed to be watching a young Adminius as he practiced under an elder knight, the acting Royal Guard captain. "I've know the Princess my entire life. When my parents died, naturally, the royal family took me in. I trained long and hard to keep up the... New tradition set by my parents." The image shifted to Adminius' knighting ceremony. "... It was a lot to live up to. Like I said, my parents were the definition of heroic. They never backed down and they only fought in the name of stopping more needless bloodshed. From the moment I was knighted, it was unanimously decided that I should be Aoife's personal guard. Not that I minded. I had known her my whole life. Literally. I was... Fond... Of her. I promised myself then that I would spend the rest of my life making sure that she would never witness the horrors that took my own parents from me, that she would be safe for the rest of her life, and I would make absolutely sure of that. I was treated as if I was the Prince, and I might as well have been. I was, alongside Aoife, a symbol of the peace that our country fought to protect since its conception. And I failed on every front."

"Why have you failed?" Azrael rolled his shoulders. The popping sound echoed oddly in the frozen air.

"... I'm dead." he said simply. "And now I have to try to prove I'm not a waste of time." He scratched his head, clearly not expecting anything. "... I'm nothing great. I'm not half the hero my parents were. I can imagine that Alaric and Charlotte have way more motivation than 'Girl.' Hell... All the stuff I'm fighting for, they could do themselves, and even better."

"Get over it, man. If you're too busy moping, you'll miss your shot at getting the girl!" Azrael punched into the ground, pulling out a vaguely sword shaped chunk of stone.
"Tell you what. You're pretty devoted to this girl, and you think you've failed already, right? Spar me."

He stared at Azrael's 'sword' with a confused expression. "... Y-... You're kidding right?" Even though he said this, he reached for his own blade.

"Yeah. Get me once, you're good to go." He twirled the chunk of stone from finger to finger. He snapped and the cave vanished. They were in a dark, smoky space that stretched on for forever in all directions. "But everything's riding on you, Addy. No you, no friends."
