"He's exhausted. Let him sleep. We'll arrive in Libertatem soon enough. Once there, we can all find an inn, rest, and then get to business.

Indeed, they reached the great city walls without further incident. The city state of Libertatem sat in one of the most defensible plots of land in all of Warryn. Deep in the mountains, and located just over the Emerald Bay, Libertatem had remained throughout time. Weather was largely fair apart from the summer storms, and the city's stone buildings could weather any amount of rain. All of the buildings rose to at least three stories, with soaring arches connecting the rooftops. In the center of the town sat the seven great statues, representing each of the gods. And at the highest point, built directly into the mountain, sat the council room.
Alaric led the others through the gates. "I am sure the council will see us immediately." The guardsmen nodded and sent a message zipping along the metal wires inlaid in the stone wall. They carried a mental shout to the other nodes, allowing for swift communication.

''You think they'll have something to eat inside if its going to be a long meeting?'' Cultus wondered. ''Putting up with the ruling class can be a bit aggravating without a pleasant distraction at hand.''

"Alaric, I appreciate the concern, but I really do think it best that we find an inn and at least eat first. But, seeing as you already had the message sent, lets get on our way." She jumped when Adminius groaned.

"I apologize. I assumed that haste was of the essence." He bowed deeply. "I shall not do so again, Your Highness." He led them up the steps to the council chambers. "Do not speak unless spoken to, and even then, keep it brief. The council members are not ones for lengthy conversation." He stared pointedly at Cultus.

"I should welcome brief conversation. And Alaric. Please. Enough with the formalities. We are of similar age. We should be talking as friends. You know that status means nothing to me.

He held a hand up for silence, and placed it on the great stone doors leading into the council room. The air pulsed once, and the doors swung inward. Five people sat at a raised semi-circle of iron gray rock. "
"Alaric Tepes. We received your message. Did your premonition come true?" The man speaking tilted his head at the princess. "I assume so. You managed to stop it then."
Alaric nodded. "Aye, milord. We come to seek our next course of action."
The woman on the far right spoke to Aoife. "Well, princess? What do you think is correct?"

"We have been through much," she began. "We..." She stopped as it finally truly sunk in that her home was in chaos, that her parents were very likely dead, that she had no idea when or if she could ever return. She choked up a bit, but she held it together and continued. "We cannot return to Arviragus. Not for some time. Adminius and I are in need of protection. We were hoping that you might be able to grant us some reprieve, some protection."

"We can do that, but what," the old man on the left paused ponderously, "are we protecting you from?"

"Any number of things. Too much has happened that at this point, I'm expecting anything to happen. However, most importantly, we encountered a man, the mastermind behind the assassination attempt. Even together, Adminius, Alaric and Cultus couldn't so much as scratch him."

They exchanged glances nervously. "W-well, anyone that can take on two chosen, our brightest battle mage and come out unscathed is indeed terrifying. Luckily, three more chosen await us in the future." The nervous man smiled.

"That is quite fortuitous, indeed, given the situation." She looked visibly relieved. "Well, I suppose that is all. We should get going."

"Alaric, you know where to take them." The man who seemed to be in charge nodded to the door. Alaric bowed and left the room.
"So why are we here again?" Ezra scratched at his red hair, wondering how to get in the city. He turned to the dark skinned masked woman next to him.

Charlotte let out a sigh. "We're here because some very important people need our help. Thats really all I can say." She brushed her short hair off her mask, tucking it behind her ear. Without another word, she strode through the nearest gate, paying no mind to the guards.

"I don't think you're-" one of the guards reached out to stop Charlotte. The node next to him blinked twice. He put a hand over it and smirked. "Nevermind. As you were." The other guard looked at him. "Old spider?" The first nodded.
Ezra blanched. He didn't like spiders.
